Description: high-level assessment on the floating solar concept to support the World Bank and UkrHydroEnergo in obtaining better understanding in feasibility of the floating solar projects in Ukraine
Tasks/activities performed:
- review of the floating solar concept based on global experience from various perspectives including technical, economic and environmental feasibilities
- research and analysis of the global best practices and lessons learned on the floating solar development
- estimation of current and future levelized costs of electricity for a floating solar plant
- assessment of technical and economic feasibility of the proposed project concept
- estimation of the expected levelized cost of electricity for the plants
- analysis of effective legal and regulatory framework to check possibility of construction and operation of floating solar power plants in Ukraine
- specification of criteria to UkrHydroEnergo to apply when selecting the most suitable sites for the floating solar project
- reveal of potential issues to install and operate the floating solar plant in the conditions of Ukraine
- description of logical next steps to prepare the project.
